Support needed for Small Improvement Scheme in Taunton North
During my election campaign, I spoke with many Taunton North residents regarding their concerns about children’s safety when crossing the road to get to and from school along Bossington Drive.
Each year County Councillors get the chance to submit two Small Improvement Scheme applications to Somerset County Council to address issues in their divisions. I would like to take this early opportunity to make my first submission about this very issue.
I have already had an officer from the Highways Department came down and take a look at the possibility of installing a zebra crossing and his initial inspection was positive, especially as the curb is already lowered. However, nothing is guaranteed and I must build a very strong case to present to the Council. This is where I hope you can help!
As this part of Taunton North is not parished, I am unable to seek support from a Parish Council who would usually give support to a scheme they would like to see implemented. I am delighted to have secured the support of Priorswood Community Centre and I am very grateful to Mrs Loader (Headteacher-Lyngford Park Primary School), who has kindly agreed to lend the school’s support to the application.
Now, as I mentioned your support as a local resident is vital. Could I kindly request that you write to me via the details below to express your support for this scheme and tell me why you believe it is needed by the Friday 20th October 2017.
With your support, I am confident the application will have the weight behind it to be approved.
